He should get his fat ass on a treadmill, stationary bike, multi-task weight machine, swim 50 laps a day and cut out simple carbohydrates and saturated fats from his diet is what he should do. Bell’s curveball is no longer an effective pitch. In 2010, opponents batted .141 against his curveball and last year they batted .282. This season is more of the same.

I don’t think I have ever been more comfortable being behind in the ninth inning than when Heath Bell is brought in to close out the game. Not sure what he’s getting caught up in down in Miami, or maybe he just misses the lax attitude of San Diego living, but he is not the same person he used to be.

Nick Hagadone of the Indians did the same thing, it was an “off-field” inury, but more or less the same thing, now he is done for the rest of the season. Players need to be smarter than that. Use the bat, and take it out on that. Perhaps Carlos Zambrano was onto something the entire time?
