Substitute “Padres” for “Mets” and you’ve nearly quoted the Padres GM Josh Byrnes when asked about trading Quentin. The Padres have scored 4.15 runs/game with Quentin in the lineup, and 3.11 runs/game when he’s not playing.

that does not mean dusty will see it like that. if they get him and do not include Heisey in the deal then Quentin will be part of platoon in left field. there is no way he benches the strikeout machine and they are not going to sit ludwick who they are paying 2.5 million.so it does not make sense for the reds to trade for him.

Metalhead: I like Heisey. As we have discussed previously…I think he should be starting.
At a minimum…a regular Platoon with Stubbs and Ludwick.
But Paper is right. Quentin > Heisey.

So….your argument is that they shouldn’t make the team better because then what do you do with two guys that are below average LFers that are already on the roster?

unless Heisey is included in the deal Quentin would be part of a three headed monster in left field. no way dusty benches the strikeout king for either 1 and they are not paying ludwick 2.5 million to sit on the bench.

why would the reds be interested in somebody who is not a upgrade over Heisey who is a upgrade over stubbs even if dusty and jocketty refuse to see it. just 1 more guy for dusty to platoon according to his book. not the book every other manager uses,but the book that says if you go 4-7 in 2 games you must sit the third game because the guy playing in your place today had 3 hits against the pitcher they are facing today 5 years ago. I can see why the padres would want to deal with the reds again since the prospects they got in the Latos deal have worked out pretty good for them. why not get more if they can.

More rumor mongering by Heyman. For the record, the Jays were never interested. They do not need a DH and have outfielders with more upside in Triple A.
