From Matt Eddy of Baseball America comes word that the Cubs have released right-hander Mike MacDougal from the roster at Triple-A Iowa.

MacDougal, who began the 2012 season with the Dodgers, posted a 7.85 ERA and 2.56 WHIP across 19 relief appearances for the Iowa Cubs, walking 16 batters and fanning only 11 in 18 1/3 innings of work.

A 12-year major league veteran, he’ll presumably attempt to latch on with another organization.

In other Chicago baseball news, the White Sox have cut ties with left-hander Scott Olsen. He hasn’t pitched in the bigs since the 2010 season and had appeared in only three games this year in their minor league system.

Soo…. the Yankees will claim him and he’ll go through some crazy metamorphoses and be lights out for exactly 13 months, then proceed to implode and suck again…

Not this time MacDougal is done, gone, finished and the Yankees have Rothchild as pitching coach, same guy that never was able to make Kerry Wood a dominant pitcher, made Prior pitch 100X time towel drills than innings totally missused the guy (if he is or was such a GURU) and totally did absolutely nothing to aid Carlos M├írmol’s mechanics, control etc. He was there because his ties to Hendry that’s why the are both in NY not by performance and leadership. Glad they’re gone.

I diagress MacDougal got nothing left, another one that flamed out (Paul Wilson, Ben MacDonald, etc) without reaching it potencial another scout, GM and ownership headache.

Wow! Ill have to write this date down so I can remember where I was when a 3rd rate journeyman reliever who hasnt been effective in about 3 or 4 years, was cur loose by a team with one of the weakest bullpens in baseball!
