Neftali Feliz will take a big step in his recovery from elbow problems by beginning a minor-league rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A.

Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas reports that, if everything goes well, Feliz is also scheduled to pitch for Round Rock next Wednesday.

Because the Rangers have committed to bringing Feliz back as a starter his rehab assignment will take longer as he builds up the necessary arm strength to throw five-plus innings after sitting out the past two months.

The Rangers are apparently going to go with a 6 man rotation of Lewis, Holland, Harrison, Darvish, Oswalt, and Feliz, and are also scouting Greinke and Hamels.

Smart move by the Rangers. The extra day of rest and not having to suffer through the heat will make this pitching staff as fresh as possible for the playoffs.

Please take a lot of time to stretch Mr Feliz out – When he hit the Disabled List, in my league I was able to pick up SP A.J. Burnett. So take all the time he needs – and there’s no rush. None at all.

very impressed with how the Rangers are managed these days, many smart moves and they are the best team in baseball even though their record doesnt quite say that at the moment
