With all due respect you have your facts in error. The Yankees and the deal that CC eventually signed was a 7 year contract worth up to 161 million with an opt out clause after 2011 which allowed CC to sign up for even more money. (CC would eventually receive a one year extension on the deal worth an additional 25 million dollars with a 5 million dollar buyout clause for the Yankees).
The Brewers at the reportedly offered a 6 year deal worth 125 million dollars. The issue at the end of the day was tied to the "opt-out" clause and not the money.

6 years at 125 is a cool 20 million per year
8 years and 186 is 23 million a year

Looks like a couple million dollars a year difference.

@jayquinta-
They won't be signing him. Greinke has said himself he's not a fab of the major markets and big cities. Even when he was with KC i believe it was mentioned as part of his no trade clause. Anxiety issues I believe? Even IF the Yanks or BoSox were interested it would be a loaner for end of the season and he'd be likely to hit FA and go elsewhere.
