Dempster could be traded by the end of the week

Jul 17, 2012, 2:30 PM EDT

If the Nationals, Red Sox, Braves, Tigers, Dodgers or whoever else is interested in Ryan Dempster wants him, they need to act now:

Makes sense, as he’s at the height of his trade value right now, having a 33 inning scoreless streak under his belt.

I’ve sort of adopted the Nats this year and I’m a Cubs fan by trade so that would make me very happy on Dempster’s behalf. He’d fit right in that rotation and particularly if Strasburg gets shut down.

If you’ve “adopted” one team, you’re not a “fan” of any team.

We are all fans of good baseball, and sometimes, when your own team is shitty, it’s ok to “adopt” another team in order to have a stake in some good baseball.

For some reason I see Dempster as the 2012 version of Jarrod Washburn from 2009

Jarrod Washburn was a huge fly ball pitcher who went from spacious Safeco Field to Comerica. Anyone could have (and did) predicted what was going to occur.

Not that I disagree with the foundation of what your are saying, but lets not pretend Comerica is some hitter’s haven.

Mark Trumbo hit a ball 423 feet last night. Austin Jackson caught it. Try to tell Trumbo Comerica National Park is not spacious. That would have been an HR in every other park in the majors.

Hopefully they keep dempster long enough to make one more start do he can break the franchises scoreless innings record. That’d be a nice send off. He deserves it.

    • foreverchipper10 - Jul 18, 2012 at 4:49 PM

I hope they do too. He only needs one more out to do it! Odds are good if he gets another start as a Cub he will hold the record alone.

Any National League contender serious about winning needs to inquire. I think Dempster could hang in the AL but he’s dominating the NL this season and has been real solid since joining the Cubs. If was an NL team serious about winning, I’d make the move. He’s a workhorse and if he had offensive support he’d be a CY Young candidate. He can work in either league but in the NL he has shown he can dominate!

chiadam: Who are you to tell anyone how to be a fan?

    Worry about your own fandom.

Weren’t you that doofus that was on sporting news message boards a few years back? Man, I hope not, that guy was a grade A fool.
