Getty Images Gotta love the trade deadline. Last night:
A source told ESPN’s Buster Olney that the Red Sox are aggressively pursuing the Cubs’ Ryan Dempster in a bid to shore up their rotation.
A major league source denied a report that the Red Sox are “aggressive in the pursuit of Ryan Dempster.” To the contrary, the source suggested, the Sox have not been pursuing the right-hander actively.

An unnamed source just denied an unnamed source! What unnamed source is going to deny THIS?

The source has a name; he’s just not saying it. The word is anonymous.
And now, I will give myself a thumbs down for being such an ass.

An unnamed source (moi) says that the Jays still want Dempster and will offer an outfielder and a minor league pitcher.

Dempster’s pretty good, but he’s not as good as his ERA, and he’s likely to cost more than he’s worth because of it. A 7 K/9 guy in the NL is not worth the package he’ll probably get.
Of course, if the price is right…

Dempster is pretty good, but he’s not as good as an AK47, either in the NL or the AL.

Any American League team that trades for a National League pitcher needs to have their heads examined. Especially an AL East team. When will they ever learn?
