As far as the Joe Nathan-Liriano trade for A.J., how many times do we need to rehash that one? A.J. has proven to be a longterm quality catcher, which the Giants needed at the time. But it wasn’t a good fit because of his personality and salary via arbitration. Nathan choked in the 2003 playoffs as a closer-setup guy in S.F. Liriano has been up and down with some big time arm problems that are a slider or two from coming back. Do you really think he is better than MadBaum, Lincecum and Cain?
What were Nathan and Liriano doing when the Giants went all of the way in 2010? The Twins never went any place special with those guys, so get over it already.

Oh I remember how bad JS could be. It was as frustrating watching Timmy this year. I was as frustrated as any Giant fan who watched a great outing followed by a 2 inning stinker. I am glad we unloaded when we did…but there were many Giants fans who wondered if it was the right trade for a bat…and we all now know how lucky we got in the trade in retrospect. Melky is not a fluke…at least the in shape, dedicated Melky.

I was just saying that Righetti and staff did a good enough job to keep JS on the radar of at least one team that would give us value in return.

I held my breath with that trade…not sure if Melky had a fluke season. Now I am just holding my breath that we can keep him and sign him to a long term deal….Sabean…calling Sabean, get that deal done!

If he hits FA…I doubt we could afford to keep up with the number of teams that are interested in him now.

You are decrying how wonderful the KC fans are, yet when they get their moment in the spotlight they go all /”Philly/” on one of the nicest guys on the team. His frickin father was pitching to him and KC fans (not all but some) started harassing his family.

If you’re such intelligent & passionate fans you wouldn’t give two shits about anything that happens surrounding the All-Star game until they address the bi-polar attitude of “it means home field..but fans pick the rosters”, “it’s really important..but every team has to be represented”.

Why should a Royal be included you ask? Because the All-Star festivities are about the fans and the stadium was filled with 80%+ Royal Fans. Butler couldn’t have done any worse than the two captains.

One last point. I want to make sure that everyone understands that KC has some great, supportive fans. We have had a CRAPPY team for years(No post season since 1985), but if we even get a hint of a winner on the field we are there. The number of fans we draw to the stadium is a higher percentage of population than almost any other MLB city. Just because our ownership sucks, does not mean that this city is not passionate about their teams. We broke records for attendance of the All Star Futures game, the Celebrity Softball game, and the 5k run. I’m not sure how we did with the actual All Star Game, but you can bet the stadium was packed. We represented our city, and MLB better than any other city has in an all star game.
