They can’t send Rodriguez down. He’s out of options. But you are spot on about the OP not knowing anything about how good Clippard is. He’s been one of the best relief pitchers in the game the past three years.

If this kid comes back and throws the way he is capable, then some more coal could be thrown into this already fast-charging freight train in the NL East. Man, it’s going to be awesome watching this year close out. You put a kid throwing like that out in the pen of an already first-place team, without having to go pay for talent not already on the team? That’s a good day for any GM.

Says someone who knows nothing about the Nationals, their bullpen, and Tyler Clippard. Clippard has been great this year and last. Has converted 15/16 save opportunities and is arguably the best 8th inning guy in the game. He will go back to being the 8th inning guy, with probably Rodriguez being sent down. I expect they will try to trade Wang and if so, will bring Rodriguez right back up.
