To clarify, I also think that Youk always plays as hard as he can and that he cares (too much, sometimes) about the outcomes of his opportunities and of the games.

The sarcasm was directed as Valentine's insistence that Youkilis would suddenly get healthy once he was traded....as if Youkilis was feinting injury, which I don't think is in him to do.

The reason people like Valentine think such things is because that is something they would do if they were in a similar situation....most people project their own traits thus.

Who didn't see this coming? I said when they traded him that this was coming. This probably wouldn't have been a good trade had they gotten prospects commensurate with the value of Youkilis, but they didn't. The best part however is that not only did they not get anything back, they also sent $5 million. Somebody needs to contact the FBI because I'm almost positive Kenny Williams is holding Ben Cherington's family hostage. Get ready Red Sox fans. The inevitable trade of Xander Boegarts, Jackie Bradley, Matt Barnes, Blake Swihart, the deed to Fenway Park, and Ted Williams' head for Ryan Dempster is coming.

I'm convinced that this entire organization is fucked. I'm not sure how exaggerated all of the stories that have come out about the clubhouse are, but it's clear that something is wrong. There's no way they just dump Youkilis like that if the clubhouse isn't a major issue. Combine that with the fact that they ran Francona off last year and decided to trash him on the way out the door and then went over the GM's head in hiring Valentine. It's not just the players and coaches. I don't know if it's Henry or if it's Lucchino, but whether you like or dislike Bobby Valentine, even he isn't capable of screwing things up this badly. This entire organization is rotten to the core. At this point, the only positive is that at least this team didn't trade for a rapist. That would have been the icing on the cake. Way to go Rays.
