“He’s a guy who did it, and everybody knows it,” says Reggie Jefferson, the longtime major league first baseman. “It’s amazing how all these names, like Roger Clemens, are brought up, yet Mike Piazza goes untouched.”

“There was nothing more obvious than Mike on steroids,” says another major league veteran who played against Piazza for years. “Everyone talked about it, everyone knew it. Guys on my team, guys on the Mets. A lot of us came up playing against Mike, so we knew what he looked like back in the day. Frankly, he sucked on the field. Just sucked. After his body changed, he was entirely different. ‘Power from nowhere,’ we called it.”

When asked, on a scale of 1 to 10, to grade the odds that Piazza had used performance enhancers, the player doesn’t pause.

“A 12,” he says. “Maybe a 13.”

A few things: One, both Piazza and his wife appear to be pretty drunk here, and two, could they have picked a worse place for a screen cap preview of this video? Holy Christ, his wife, who isn’t baseball wife hot anyway, looks horrible paused. If you can’t remember what it looks like, refresh the page.

Send Roger to Syria, along with Bonds, McGwire, Boone, Cancesco ,etc. Lets see how tough they can be when bullets and rockets are flying at their heads. !! Give them a baseball bat, roids, and helmet, see who has balls and who doesn’t.

Full disclosure: I’ve always been a Clemens fan. I was very disappointed when the steroid allegations came out. I think it is likely he did steroids/PEDs, but there has not been enough CREDIBLE evidence to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt. Throwing the bat was very unprofessional and unsportsmanlike, but I could see it being a case of Clemens being ultra competitive and getting caught up in the moment…or just acting like a douchebag (or some combination thereof). I don’t know that it was necessarily caused by “roid-rage.”

Funny what i remember was earlier that year Piazza got beaned by a pitch and got hurt, Clemens even called the hospital after the game to make sure he was doing ok but Mike wouldnt take his phone call. Then he held this big press conference crying like a baby saying it was on purpose and one of the tv networks i think it was fox kept playing it over and over and over again acting as if Mike was the only guy who ever got beaned. Personally i dont think mike handled it the right way especially with the press conference thingy and i think Clemens was upset over the big deal that was made over it. The roid rage thing is nonsense, end of story, im right again.

Why in the world would it have anything to do with steroids? As Chris Rock put it, what ever happened to Crazy? Clemens can’t just be a nut? It has to be due to drugs?

I’m not saying he didn’t use steroids, but let’s not excuse his behavior as a side effect of a drug.

I’m just amazed that the Federal Prosecutor didn’t rush Mrs. Piazza down to DC to testify. After all, one more know nothing testifing that her opinion is ‘FACT’ in that trial was needed. Nobody cares what she or her husband THINK … try some proveable facts.

Everything Clemens did was roid-fueled as far as most people are concerned. That’s open for debate but, you’re right, this one incident really isn’t.
