Hanley Ramirez is in the hospital with an infected hand

Jul 20, 2012, 4:02 PM EDT

The other day Hanley Ramirez punched a fan — a cooling fan, not some dude in the seats — and now Joe Capozzi reports that he’s going to miss some time:

He was not listed in tonight’s lineup. This is why.

That’s just Hanley being Hanley. Wait wrong Ramirez, but still something stupid that helps that mess of a team absolutely none.

The good news is, the way the Hanster has been hitting lately, his absence won’t be noticed much.

Yep, that Boston trade needs to happen. He will fit right in.

This sounds an awful lot like the plot to District 9.

Back before the new stadium, when the team was still functioning under Scrooge McLoria’s “market correction” rules, dog food was one of the selections on the team charter’s flights over four hours long.

Man, the Sox injury curse is so strong that it even envelops *potential* Red Sox.

It drives me crazy when these guys do stupid, shelfish things like this. Come on man, you’re getting paid millions of dollars to play the game you love. Don’t hurt your team by hurting yourself in some stupid way like PUNCHING A FAN. You aren’t 13, Hanley. Grow up.

Well, he is from the Dominican. Are you sure you know how old he isn’t?

Heh..Heh… Well played Gator. (Side note: Since joining this community in the last week or so, I’ve seen a lot of your comments. Well done. I look forward to seeing your contributions to the conversations.) You’re right, I really don’t know how old he isn’t. But, I’m pretty sure he’s not 13. That said, Ramírez signed with the Boston Red Sox as an International Free Agent in July 2000, and it’s listed that he was born December 23, 1983. So… me thinks there’s a pretty good chance he fudged it to say he was 17 when he could have been about 15 or 16. Hmmm….
