I just have a tough time imagining that an extra 15 or 20 pitches made the difference between awesome and terrible. I think he had been playing WAY above expectation, and now he is seeing some stat correction. The guy is throwing 88mph fastballs (and has been all year). Eventually, big league hitters were going to figure that out.

I’m glad that Matt Cain is doing fine since his perfect game (2-1, 3.69 ERA). Those stats are higher than what he did before then, but he isn’t putting up similarly poor numbers that Santana and Humber have since their no-hitters.
