If anything it will lessen the return for him because if he isn’t traded by the deadline, Cubs lose the bargaining chip of having the extra year of control. I wouldn’t mind if they just kept him, unless the return is just too good to pass up.

Um, shocker I know, but this story has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the Yankees. Not to mention that asserting that a guy would fake an injury to escape pitching for a terrible team is just plain STUPID.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these “injuries” near the trade deadline are manufactured by some players in order to avoid being traded. As a Yankee fan, I am suspicious that Nick Swisher’s recent groin pull may be of this variety. Yankees may have been looking to trade this soon to be free agent, although Swisher clearly wants to be a Yankee long term. If he’s traded, he’s got no chance of resigning, which is unlikely anyway. His only chance is hanging around and putting up monster numbers in the 2nd half and performing like superman in the playoffs (all of which is unlikely)

Things are finally turning around for the Cubs. We’ll look back on this day and see that 104 years after their last WS championship this was where they finally started climbing out of the hole. So in 104 years they will finally be back to where they were in 1908.

Now if Garza has to go on the DL and doesn’t get traded for a boatload of prospects it might take a little longer for that next WS championship.
