Evan Longoria is not impressed with MLB promoting Snooki

Jul 23, 2012, 11:11 AM EDT

More Twitter fun. Last night MLB promoted some “Jersey Shore” Snooki tie-in thing in which that Snooki person will be at the Mets game tonight:

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria saw that and asked a good question:

I’ve looked it over several times, but I see nothing in MLB’s social media policy that requires players to be on board with their taste-impaired promotions, so I guess Longoria is safe. In addition to being right.

(thanks to Allison for the heads up)

    Snooki = Good

Call Accuracy & Accountability = Bad

    Yeah…. that’s right.

Yeah, and plus, I love how MLB players are always expected to be professional, even outside of the work place, even on stupid social media sites like Twitter…but when they need a promotional tool to drum up business a little they choose SNOOKI. The cursing, drinking, fighting, pregnant symbol of the intellectual decay of America.

      I prefer J Wow

Haha! Completely right. His reaction was the exact same reaction I had over at MLB.com, where Snooki attending a game is front page news. Ugh. Thank you, Longoria, and F you MLB if you give him any shit over it.

I’ve always like Longoria but he just moved into one of my favorite players ever. There’s no reason why snooki should be rich and being celebrated.

What idiot in the front office said…”let’s have her here, this is gonna be a great day for the MLB”

    • ajcardsfan - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:33 AM

      Probably Bud Selig himself

      • cur68 - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:46 AM

Agree. Appetite for Snooki is high. Lookit the attendance, man!

      • vallewho - Jul 23, 2012 at 2:28 PM

It would not surprise me to hear MLB say that the Twitter account was hacked.

It’s also Star Wars Night at Citi Field today. Alas, RA Dickey is not the pitcher.

  6. ajcardsfan - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:30 AM

Craig, you made a huge typo:
“More Twitter fun. Last night MLB promoted some “Jersey Shore” Snooki tie-in thing in which that Snooki person will be at the Mets game tonight:”

I believe you meant to type thing

  7. kkolchak - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:32 AM

Definite thumbs up for Longoria. Snooki represents the bottom of the barrel in this garbage culture of ours. Her overnight fame for doing NOTHING is the very opposite of the total dedication and hard work it takes to be a successful MLB player.

The world would be a better place if the cast of the Jersey shore were to lose the ability to speak.

    • baseballisboring - Jul 23, 2012 at 12:20 PM

      And especially reproduce.

  9. Jonny 5 - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:43 AM

And I see you escape the true death by acknowledging the person who linked it to you?

  10. hushbrother - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:44 AM

Knowing nothing about Snooki, if I saw her for the first time, I would assume she was from Tampa.

  11. keithbangedyermom - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:44 AM

Another reason to stay away from Citi, as if we needed more.

  12. alexo0 - Jul 23, 2012 at 11:47 AM

“Fist Pumping” will be the title of the porn featuring Snooki in 2 years.

love the comment by him, but he needs to get on the field…his butt groove on my fantasy bench is epic

“The appetite for instant replay in the sport is very low. Snooki, on the other hand, has baseball fans so hungry for her that there might as well be a famine.” -Bud Selig

  15. sawxalicious - Jul 23, 2012 at 12:46 PM

There’s no way Longoria catches any heat for his posting. Snooki is a frickin idiot that MLB should preemptively ban from even attending. That MLB would actually promote her presence is baffling.

    Couple of thoughts:

    1) This is the worst Fan Giveaway ever. Will the first 30,000 fans 18 and over have their cheeks swabbed for a paternity test?

    2) Did the Mets get the idea from the St. Paul Saints marketing team?

  17. muir6 - Jul 23, 2012 at 1:33 PM

Three years in a row snooki had a better summer Evan, stop tweeting and get on the field the most overrated playerin the league
