Lucas Duda is garbage. I’ve been saying it since he was announced during the offseason as the presumptive 2012 starting RF. All Mets fans heard about was his “power” when he came up. Gary Cohen would talk about how people raved about this so-called power, although the guy never hit 30 HR in a minor league season, and the next pitch he would send a routine fly to RF off a hanging curve or slider. The guy has the bat speed of a 40 year old & his defense is atrocious. The Mets have been notorious for fielding sub-par fielders in favor of their hitting & finding places for players without a position to play just because they produce at the plate; prime example of that is Mike Piazza who was a horrible defensive catcher but a hall of fame hitter. As for Duda, the guy is a below average hitter & a terrible fielder. More than half way through the year, .250, 14 HR, 40 RBI doesn’t cut it if you’re going to give up a run or 2 per week through bad fielding. Unless the Mets are making a move to bring in bullpen help, hopefully with Duda being shipped out in that move, sending Beato down instead of Duda is the wrong move. Duda has no future with this team & doesn’t have the skills to make you think he might turn it around as he’s slow, overweight, slow bat, no power & a bad fielder; whereas, Beato, who has been injured all year until recently, still has a 95-97 MPH fastball & a solid cutter/slider. The Mets need as many warm bodies as possible in the bullpen, hoping one of them hits a hot streak. On the other hand, the Mets have enough OF’s to field a starting squad, all of which are platoon players. Another brilliant move by the brilliant Sandy Alderson. He’s on the clock & I’m starting to miss Omar Minaya as I began to miss GW Bush 3 years ago.

I think Lucas Duda will be a part of any trade the Mets make this week.they can package him and a pitching prospect to the KC ROYALS For Johnny Broxtons.

After what he did last year and as a Mets fan I hate to say this, but it’s the right move. Duda has been killing them defensively and is an automatic out against left-handed pitching. He needs to figure out what he can do down in the minors.
