I’m guessing Kasten has Needle Head Ned reined in pretty good, because with McAsshat running the show a Dempster trade/overpay is right in Colletti’s veterany goodness wheelhouse. He probably would have given the Cubs 3 top prospects for 3 months and maybe a postseason for Dempster. So glad that demon was exorcised.

I’m a Red Sox fan who still loves Theo, so I have a bit of a rooting interest in them. He’s made a few exciting moves already, and if Delgado develops as expected, that’s a huge coup for 2 months of a good pitcher who’s pitching way over his head.

That said, I still think it’s a good deal for the Braves. They very well may miss Delgado one day, but I’m in favor of trades for rental players as long as it actually addresses a weakness and has the potential to get a team over the hump, and they’re not gutting their farm system to do it. Braves will be fine without him in the long run, and like Craig said their rotation hasn’t been good. They’re 3.5 out of the division and 1 out of the wild card spot, so I like this move from both ends.

Need to see what atlanta has to give up but this has disaster written all over it.
