Off the top of my head I couldn’t remember if it was one or two appearances (just looked it up — it was two appearances on consecutive days) but I remembered it was really not pretty, to say the least. It’s not unusual for Wilson to make things kind of dramatic — he’s not the kind of closer who keeps the bases empty and his WHIP nice and low to make things comfortable. (Just to clarify where I’m coming from, I do watch every Giants game and they’re my favorite NL team but I’m a Yankees fan, so I try not to compare anyone to Mariano because that would be insane, but I think it’s fair to say that Brian Wilson does not make his save appearances seem effortless.) But even by the dramatic Weez standard, it was pretty obvious from the way he pitched that something was very wrong.

In fact, I just had a flashback. I forgot until just now, but they came out to the mound and asked Wilson what was wrong and he insisted that he was fine and he had just rolled his ankle or something. That was a load of crap.

They have to play better than 7 other teams, and there is nothing about their roster that makes them look like anything other than a sub-.500 team. It is unlikely that they’ll make up 4.5 games in either of the teams with the WC spots right now….much less pass up 6 other teams as well.

Cleveland is under .500 and only 3 AL teams have a worse record than them. They are not contenders, and Perez will have far more trade value now than during the off season.

It was the Giants 6th game of the season. He hurt himself and refused to come out of the game until he got the save. He ended making 2 appearances this season.

But Wilson will be back next season, so chances are he won’t be the closer. So, you get a closer for a couple of months and then just a bullpen guy next year. Just don’t see it.

But the Indians are still contenders, they are NOT going to trade their 2-time All Star Closer for a prospect, not yet anyways. I do see them trading him at the winter meetings, because Vinnie Pestano and Nick Hagadone will be ready for the 8th and 9th innings, but not now.

I think it was 1 game at Coors Field. He pitched in the game Bumgarner started and managed to get the save.

Sorry to nitpick, but the Giants didn’t lose Wilson before the season began. He made an appearance or two before they shut him down, if my memory serves correctly.

This makes perfect sense in Larry Dolan’s world..Trade for a player, develop him, send him to an All-Star game or two–then trade him so you dont have to pay him.

But its OK Tribe fans–because the Dolan’s are reducing parking fees and hot dog costs….

Craig, officially the Indians are still contending, so why would you move a valuable piece, unless they ask for Buster Posey. This offseason is the time to move Chris, and not anytime soon.
