Great to see Pittsburgh doing so well this year. I am also happy to see them continue to try to bolster their lineup (although I expected them to forgoe picking up a pitcher in favor of a position player).
Nevertheless, great for Pittsburgh. Go NL Central!

Correia will drop out of the rotation which I am fine with. Bedard has pitched better than his W-L would indicate.

I think Wandy has a really great opportunity pitching in spacious PNC. I’m happy with the deal especially given we didn’t give up Cole, Taillon, Hansen, Marte, Heredia, Bell, etc. to get him

It appears the ‘Stros will be picking up around $12 million of Wandy’s salary over the course of his contract assuming he does exercise his player option.

Nice trade for both clubs. Houston adds some prospects with the possibility of some help later, while the Bucs didn’t have to surrender any elite prospects for the lefty they needed. Although Erik Bedard has pitched better than his record including his last outing, he also has trouble staying healthy.

Looks like a good haul for Houston.

Surprised that Pittsburgh is trying to acquire more pitching….that isn’t their area of need. They have 2 starting position players with an OBP above .307….that’s a lot of outs in a lineup.

I think I like this trade for both sides. The Pirates upgrade the starting staff without giving up a major prospect and the Astros continue to move veterans for young players.

The Pirates fan base deserve a winning team. I was at the pirates/braves alcs game when Sid bream broke the hearts of pirates fans. I actually think they’ll finish the year over .500. I hope so.

So far so good for the Astros, the moves they’ve made have been pretty respectable. And it’s cool to see the Pirates acting like, you know, a contendor. They sold out the other day! Way cool.

And so the mass exodus is nearly over. The Astros are just about out of anybody of any value above AAA. I think they will probably end up keeping Altuve, Lowrie and Castro, and I wouldn’t give much for anyone else.

How in hell they will finish the season is beyond my powers of prediction.

Good for the Pirates. This team has sucked for a long time and it’s good to see them in it for once. Hopefully they can continue to build and compete.
