I think this is just a negotiating ply by Jon Daniels as he searched the league for an arm before the trade deadline. I really think the Rangers prefer Ogando out of the bullpen.

I kinda prefer Ogando in the rotation as opposed to coming out of the pen. Call me crazy, but I think he's more effective in the long run. He really hasn't been very good as a reliever this year, but I watched him pitch that game in SF where he ultimately pulled his hammy and the guy was dealin. As far as his meltdown in the 2nd half of the season last year, I just don't think he had the stamina to go through the entire season after making that jump from the pen. If he were to start back now I think he'd have the juice to make it through the rest of the season/playoffs just fine.

It's easy to forget that the Rangers have played the most games of any team over the past two years so I can sorta understand why this is happening. I don't think they're pushing their pitchers too hard. At least I hope not. They're definitely in need of a front line starter now, that's for sure. I'd personally like to see Cliff Lee again if they can pry him away as it doesn't seem like Hamels is going to be available. I doubt Philly wants both contracts should they sign Hamels. Cliff knows our team and system, enjoyed his stay here, and unlike Hamels is under contract. He's older but is still a dominant arm. They need some bullpen help as well so I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to get some relief pitching as well. It's worked out well for them so far taking last year into account so who knows. Something's going to need to be done though because it seems the Angels aren't going away.
