Carl Crawford is awesome. But, feel free to keep ripping him apart if it makes you feel better.

Obviously, he is better suited batting second than seventh. But, there were a myriad of different reasons that created the season he had last year.

That man is accountable. He says it like it is and is completely honest regarding his failings and what makes him a better player.

What the hell does Lucchinno have to do with it? Epstein had to have Lackey and Crawford. The little b!tch Epstein walled himself off from Lucchinno and the front office gave him the checkbook to do what he wanted with zero checks and balances. Epstein was protected by the Boston media anyway. He could do no wrong. Funny, when the Sox acquired Beckett and Lowell it was during that period when Epstein left the team. When Beckett and Lowell did not perform in their first year in 2006 it was "Theo didn't make this deal". When Beckett won 20 and Lowell was and All Star and WS MVP in 2007 it turned into "Theo was actually behind the scenes and made this deal". Bullsht. Epstein made a mess and got the f#ck out. They are going to be digging out from his friggin mess for 2 - 3 more years. Red Sox have two problems right now and when I heard this is it makes you shake your head. They were 10 games over .500 in games Beckett or Lester did not start. They have an awful record in games those two start.

Most of the Boston media slams the players. One day they are the darling, the next they are slumping so bad they need a phantom injury. How could it not impact the players? Money has nothing to do with it. These guys are people. Peter Abraham is notorious for this. He will build a guy up with an article, maybe get a spot on the NESN pre-game show and then, when there are signs of faltering, slam.

Rather than actually supporting the team and players and, perhaps, representing that percent of the fanbase, nope. Always rip them a new one.

The only way I see the RS reaching for Hanley in a trade, would be due to Mike Aviles' injury. It could be more severe than the RS are letting on. And if Lester and all the guys that came up with Hanley can't stand him for the same reasons he is still behaving, it just sets the clubhouse up to become even worse. Although, you never know. The RS did sign Padilla while they claimed to be setting up a different vibe. Maybe Hanley would just be grateful to be away from the Marlins and all the players can shake hands and move on.

I don't want to see any movement in this team. I like what we have and I still believe they have what it takes to turn it around. I'm a fan. Beckett can have some great outings and maybe he'll just turn it around. Same with Lester. There is cause for concern that Lester could be putting too much pressure on himself.

I know. Cellar-dwellars. But, I still look at the line up and like what I see. Sure, I still miss Youk, but I have to root for my team. And I think they are darn good. I bet we all still like ours.
And if we get Hanley, my gut is already wrenching thinking about who we are giving up. J. Henry & Co. should just throw in the cash. I like my guys.

Carl Crawford is awesome and I am so grateful he is back. He is a guy of real character and will be key to inspiring younger players to play with energy and accountability. So, he is comfortable playing in the 2 hole? Big deal. Without
Gonzo and Ortiz in front of him, he can actually give the pitchers a bit of grief. The Carl Crawford comments are stale. There are actually some real reasons why last year was his worst.

How about the Boston media can't handle overpaid, under-performing players and they speak on behalf of all of us when they point out the obvious?

You can tell by their skin complexion that they clearly are not eating enough KFC

This does not sound like the kind of contract the A's would move to take on. While the A's have a nice streak going, it's still difficult to believe that their rookie pitchers can take on the workload and stress of a late August/September run, much as I would like to see it.

I've felt that the A's would be more inclined to move on an incremental upgrade with little or no long term obligation, either at third or short, but most likely short, and also catcher. All three of those are shortage positions, meaning that high OPS players are hard to find. Since the A's will part with no young pitching, and they'd like to move veteran arms, the list of probable targets is correspondingly small.

Hanley is a .752 player this year, and was a .712 player last year. Maybe he could be again the .853 player he was in 2010. But it's a new league, new pitchers to learn, etc. It just seems very unlikely for the A's.

Place the blame for the Red Sox failures where it belongs: on the players.

So the Sox don't get any blame for giving a long term deal to an inconsistent pitcher (Beckett), or a long term deal to a declining pitcher (Lackey), or making a player who doesn't hit with a lot of power, or walk at all, the highest paid LF in the game?
