If they want to pry away Garza with Delgado and a lesser prospect I am all for it. I would love Greinke but to be honest I am not sure if he would sign long term with Atlanta. At least with Garza he would be under team control in 2013 rather than just a two month rental. Plus I think he is the better pitcher.

Dempster’s a stand-up guy, but jeez, it just seems like when the Cubs need him most, he lets us down (see the 7 walks in game 1 of the 2008 playoffs). Great chance to move to a contender, thank the Cub fans for a wonderful time here, and leave the Cub fans with a nice prospect. Instead, he’ll leave being seen as just another diva athlete and probably get booed at home for the rest of the season. If he would have simply said that he wanted to stay in Chicago because he loved the city , the team, the fans, and wanted to stay close to his family – well then we would have understood. When he came out and said he would be interested in moving to “any” contender, and is now pulling this garbage…good riddance.

Did Dempster make a liar out of himself? If it was L.A. or nothing he should have kept his mouth shut about Atlanta being his number 2 choice. I agree he has the right to make it happen as he desires because of 10/5 but he now has egg on his face. BTW, so glad this trade didn’t happen. He is a one year wonder and his wonder year is almost over. I think this has hurt the Cubs in their effort to trade Garza. If we are determined to trade Delgado at least trade him for a better pitcher than Dempster.

Thank God! Took you long enough Frank! Why are the Braves so intent on adding more and more aging arms this season? This silly idea of a trade went on way too long. And in the process many many great deals have gone down all around the league. The Braves wasted too much time trying to get a pitcher who may and I say this strongly he may get you through the rest of season. More than likely though he will break down in the heat of the south and his age will catch up. Sure up that outfield Bravos and try out some of your prospects. But do not waste the time of the fans by going after another band aid that may or may not stick. Oh and quit pretending like you are going to spend money Frank Wren and “The Board” and just go out and spend the money. But don’t spend that money on a car with 200k miles on it already.

Good for the Braves. If Dempster wasn’t 100% committed to being sent there, then the Braves should focus their efforts elsewhere. This makes Dempster look like a prima donna and good luck to the Cubs getting anything for him now.
