Hanley Ramirez starts at third in Dodgers debut

The suspicion was that Hanley Ramirez would play shortstop in Los Angeles with Dee Gordon on the disabled list, but he is starting at third tonight against the Cardinals in his Dodger debut.

His spot in the lineup is as predicted; he’s batting fifth behind Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier for now.

Ramirez hasn’t had any time to work out at shortstop since the trade with the Marlins was announced and he didn’t practice there with Miami this year, so it’s likely that the Dodgers are just playing him at third to buy some time until they can get him used to his old position again. Manager Don Mattingly said earlier today that, “it looks best with Hanley playing short for me.”

With Ramirez at third, Juan Uribe is on the bench tonight. Luis Cruz is playing shortstop.

Whete was Atlanta while all this was going on?

Nothing against Chipper Jones but the Braves need a third baseman?

      Not that 3rd baseman

All you do is ask this question. Chipper is there for now and Prado will inherit the job next year and beyond. They need a LF, not a 3B.
