Thank you jkb…..has no one learned anything from the phillies?? They got a ring BUT before the monster pitcher payroll and major contract to only a couple position players. A couple of key injuries + age equals disaster. Injuries will always always happen. What are the angels going to do about the payroll after they sign him in the offseason? I sure hope pujols can hit for the whole team.

Remember the good old days when the Rangers would waste lots of money and not win anything and there were the Angels sweeping the division every single year? Sounds like roles have reversed. Greinke wasn’t exactly a need with Weaver and Wilson at the top of the rotation, meanwhile the Angels may get over 200 million deep in contracts to pitchers which would be a good model for success unless you looked at the Philly’s the last two years.

I don’t have a problem with fans who may not be as in tune with the Brewer personell secisions as I am I just ask that they realize the Brewers will always be financially behind the 8 ball when it comes to the top free agents. They will occasionally get a Braun that will give the hometown discount but he’s going to be the exception and not the rule.

There’s a large segment of Brewers fans that are there for the party and they tend to be the ones who get up in arms about this stuff. I know I’m probably too far the other way with the armchair gm stuff and not enjoying the party enough. But all will be well when the team is good again and that could be pretty soon.

Tons of people have anxiety disorders and take meds for them. Big friggin’ deal. I highly doubt he is the only baseball player that has anxiety or any other psychiatric disorders.

Randy, our payroll is right around $100 million this year. Ownership has shown a willingness to spend money. There is a limitation though on what the Brewers can afford to give guys. If these guys are Brewer fans they should be aware of the uphill battle of small market baseball. As rich a man as mark Antanassio is he’s not trying to lose money. I agree it sucks losing players but its the way it is. The Brewers have actually done a good job recently of keeping guys around a little longer than usual.

CJ Wilson sucks? At what? Baseball? Really? I mean, his SO/BB ratio isn’t as good as last year, but he’s got an ERA+ of 132 this year, which is pretty damn good. And I think I’ll wait to see what Mr. Greinke can do with the anxiety issues that you’ve diagnosed. My understanding is that he takes meds for his problems and has learned how to cope. He’s also pretty good at throwing baseballs. So… you know… it COULD work out ok.

If they are Brewer fans and have any idea of how the business side of baseball works they should understand. Fire Doug Melvin and the next Brewer GM has the same economic issues Melvin has. The truth is Melvin has made some mistakes but he’s also made some bold moves that paid off a great deal. His good moves outnumber his bad ones.

It doesnt guarantee anything but lets stop kidding ourselves. The more elite starters you have the better. I’ll put my money on a team with several top starters every time. It won’t win every year but it will win more than not. It’s well known that any world series champ will need some lucky breaks to get through all the playoff games but having the better talent goes a long way. The Angels are doing what they should. They are going for it while the opportunity is there. I’ll take that over the boatload of teams that will never go for it and spend 15 years talking about keeping the farm teams stocked.

I think the trade served it’s purpose for both clubs for the most part, I’m a bit surprised the Crew didn’t get anyone off the Angels big league roster.

As for Greinke, the Angels would clearly be getting the better end of the deal if he was pitching all his remaining starts at Miller Park…

He is kind of a mess up stairs, considering he has major anxiety issues, hence why he didn’t wanna go to a big city. Plus he has ADD I believe too. No one’s saying he can’t live a normal life and get a hot wife, that has nothing to do with anything. He just can’t handle the pressures of playing in a big city with his anxiety issues and all. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a good pitcher still. I don’t think the rest of the Angels staff beyond him and Weaver are any good. CJ Wilson sucks and is overpaid, Santana is in a major funk and Haren is just average. They’ll make the playoffs, but not out of the 1st or 2nd round this year.
