Batista will be starting in the Braves AA affiliate. And if he pans out then the Braves can move Medlen out of the bullpen and give him his shot in the starting rotation. With a lot of top pitching prospects off the table for the very frugal Braves this gives them a cheap option if they can’t land a big arm before the deadline.

Maybe it’ll work out or it won’t but it is very cheap. If only Blank could buy the Braves and dump some money into them they could jump up to the next level.

I think Henry Rodriguez days in the majors r numbered. He is too wild and unreliable. Imagine if they send him down though, that means the already best team ERA in baseball gets better. Why, because the one guy they signed who was washed up, Brad Lidge, is gone. And so will Batista be. I give him less than a month in Atlanta.

Not that I believe Batista can help the Braves, but someone in their bullpen must be ailing, cause the management stated they were looking for help there, and on appearance they seem like they are solid. They must know something we don’t, which is often the case.

Seriously, Randall Delgado is a better option over Batista. So why bother with Batista? Do the Braves have no one beyond Delgado to turn to as depth?

I realize I can’t say certain words in my comments, but, seriously Frank Wren what the F! Are you thinking? This is absolutely ridiculous. The Braves have real needs. They quickly becoming insignificant. And their ownership by committee seems to think they are doing a wonderful job. Hey this guy was awesome back in the day lets grab him! Does anyone know if we can unfreeze Ted Williams? Maybe we can go Frankenstein and bring back Dimaggio! These must be the stupid a$@ comments these idiots who cut the checks for the Braves must be saying to one another. WHY WHY WHY? Would you make this deal? With all the time and money they are wasting with this stupid race to become the oldest team in MLB they couldn’t locked down Bourne and traded for and re-signed Grienke. Please Braves do not become the Browns of baseball.

The Braves signing the Nats’ former veteran discards demonstrates while they have a very tall order in trying to win the division. The only weak link on the entire Nats’ staff these days is a 25-year-old who throws the ball 100 MPH but just doesn’t know where it is going.

After dominating the International League, as it’s youngest player, in 2011 with a 2.55 ERA, he’s struggled against that same competition this year to the tune of a 5.33.

Early in the season, his struggles were explained away as ‘the Braves want him to work on his breaking ball, so he’s throwing an inordinate number of them.’ As his struggles have continued, there are whispers that he’s tipping his pitches, slowing everything down on his change up, and lowering his arm angle on the breaking ball.

Not something you want him to work on at the big league level in the middle of a pennant race, to which his 5.31 ERA in the bigs is a testament.
