Justin Upton will not be part of any “blockbuster” trade for a pitcher

Jul 31, 2012, 9:32 AM EDT

Last night Ken Rosenthal reported the potential for a “blockbuster” deal involving the Diamondbacks. That deal, Rosenthal speculated, could involve Justin Upton and could be for a big name pitcher, names currently unknown.

The Dbacks may make a blockbuster move, but according to Bob Nightengale, it won’t include Justin Upton:

It was probably too strong to say “rumors of Cliff Lee or Felix Hernandez,” because none of that has been reported as possible or even likely, but the reiteration that Upton is off the table is useful. It tells us that, in all likelihood, the word “blockbuster” may be too strong.

It needs to be for both Upton and CY. Call up Adam Eaton. Have Kubel, Parra, and Eaton in the outfield!

Adam Eaton is still in baseball? Huh…who knew?

Gets me every time, but it’s a different guy.

Para better start using his head. Stupid base running cost us a run last night, then he non chalants his super man arm and gives a smarter guy 2nd base by tossing the ball over the 2nd base cover’s head. I like Parra, but I sure hope this will be one of nis waking moments. And who is going to bat against left hand pitchers?
