It’s most likely a joke about how Joba Chamberlain is better at an 8th inning role than as a starter because his “stuff” is better in the 8th. Never mind the fact that all starters would be better in relief roles because they could throw harder knowing they didn’t need to throw 100+ pitches during the game.

As an O’s fan….dammit. Not just from the ” Mark is a douche, telling everyone you’ve always been a Yanks fan when you’re from the Baltimore area and friends who grew up with you called BS on you and you’ve essentially burned every bridge in this area by turning us down years ago” way, but also in a “seriously, we’ve been hanging around 2nd place for this long and just started to claw our way back into the race but if he stays healthy and the pitching continues the way it is, we are pretty much SOL and praying for a wild card if that” way as well.

This is nothing but good news to a Yankee fan, such as myself. Yeah, he’s getting old, but aside from his power (from both sides of the plate), he saves as many runs at 1st base as he scores. Anyone besides him is a step down.

I couldn’t help but think the same thing when I read about Ryan Zimmerman’s cortisone shot, too. Why do we love cortisone but other recovery shots are the Devil’s boogers?
