1st of all.. this ain’t the NFL, where you don’t get paid if you get cut. MLB contracts are guaranteed, so he’s getting paid by the last team holding his contract, regardless of whether he’s playing somewhere else or sitting on the couch at home. so his only shot is the AL, where he could DH for someone. if the dodgers can find a taker, maybe they can wangle a couple prospects or get the other team to pay a fraction of his pay. otherwise.. sayonara.

We’ve got a pretty good idea already what Mayberry can do, he’s no kid. But I forgot about Laynce Nix (inconceivably) being on the roster, so along with Mayberry, Brown, Pierre and Schierholtz I guess there’s no need for Abreu to hold the bench down.

Because they need to see what the kids can do playing full time (Dom Brown and Mayberry). Chances are they suck, but it’s better than that wall coward out there.
