bigleagues – read the book “Burying the Black Sox” – you’ll see that Kennesaw Mountain Landis didn’t exactly root out ALL the corruption in baseball at the time either. In fact, a lot of other fixes and such that had gone on before, and in a few cases after, were mostly swept under the rug, with Landis and the owners settling for a high profile action in this one case, and hoping it shut the fans up…

Or do you mean his intelligence? That can fit on a floppy drive, which is probably better compatible with the technology level used in MLB offices presently, given their mentality.

By 2014 the programmers at MLBAM will have completed their real purpose — the transference of Bud Light into V-Bud, the first virtual commissioner of baseball. Then they just have to hope no one loses the 512MB flash drive he lives on.

If that were true, Bud would’ve retired a few years ago, only to return a year later as the NFL commissioner saying he had the “itch” to run a league again and that he always wanted to be involved with the NFL.

Then he would’ve sent a female reporter a text message that had –

He’s just saying this because he knows how upset it will make us when he “changes his mind”, because we all know the only thing that makes Selig more happy than denying reality is making baseball fans miserable. And when he claims he’ll be staying on for another couple years because the game needs him, he’ll be killing two birds with one stone.

Friend of Bud and Oakland A’s Managing GP Lew Wolff was on for an inning last night. Despite the 3 years and counting debacle of the stadium non-committee, Lew and majority owner John Fisher have seen the value of the A’s franchise grow substantially while making a small profit thanks to revenue sharing. There was a lot of hokum and nonsense about why the A’s did nothing at the deadline (“the team has earned the chance to see this thing through” and “we wouldn’t know who to subtract if we added someone in.” Really?).

But the bottom line really is in the first sentence. The value of the franchise has gone up. Bud’s Brand has been very, very good for baseball owners.
