Well, Rocker made his comments in an interview. Everything he said is on the record word for word. We don’t really know what Delmon said, except that he was hammered and it was anti-semitic. He was also somewhat of a star at the time he said all that, which Delmon very isn’t.

Yes it can, as being in the majority doesn’t mean you automatically have power. Apartheid in South Africa is one example as the country is almost 80% black, but from the 40s to the late 80s was ruled by the white, 20%, minority.

Just for the record, I love White victimization. It’s like Jim Carrey doing a crazy dance and getting laughs on In Living Color is a slap in the face to some people. Whatever. Speak to me when ya’ll start getting lynched for your skin color or supposed religious beliefs.

In the meantime, this was never a big deal to begin with probably because it’s more about liquor and booze than it is about abject hatred and violence. But, yeah, whatever. Grumble, grumble, grumble. Won’t someone think of the people who anonymously claim to be victims on the internet?

That’s not what you said. You said a white person hasn’t been killed for being a white person (or at least with any regularity) for a very long time. So, what you’re telling me is that you are somehow aware of what was going on in the minds of all minorities every time there has been a minority on caucasian crime. Because to make that statement, you would have to know what the intent was in the minds of the people perpetrating the crimes. Do you really think a white guy isn’t subject to a racially-motivated crime walking through a black neighborhood like a black guy is walking through a white one? That’s an incredibly naive view to have. Just because people automatically assume everytime they heard about a white on black crime that it was somehow racially motivated doesn’t make it true. And just because dismiss black on white crime as something other than being racial, well, that doesn’t make it true either. And if you want to speak about a people who have been brutally oppressed throughout history, look no further than the ones that Delmon Young assaulted.

As for the rule that minorities can’t oppress majorities- maybe someone should have told the majority Shites in Iraq because they were violently oppressed by the minority Sunnis for over 30 years. Maybe someone should have told them that rule.

Because it’s a stupid opinion to have. A minority, by rule, can’t oppress the majority. Just because you, like every other member of the majority happen to also fall into a sub-category of that majority doesn’t mean anything when the other categories in that majority no longer oppress the minorities within the majorities.

If you were complaining about this in 1890s New York, you might have an argument.

There was an post a while back about racist comments and I stated that if someone called me a WOP or a dago, I would laugh them off and take the power away from the words. I was told by more than a handful of posters that it’s not the same because I’m white and it couldn’t be considered racist because my people hadn’t been oppressed enough, lol.

Because Rocker made a science out of being a complete bigoted dick, so much that people threw batteries at him when he’d leave the bullpen. Young might go nuts and even get arrested at times, but it’s pretty clear he doesn’t enjoy the fact that he was being a jerk. Rocker clearly enjoyed it.
