Unfortunately for the purists, there are very few true leadoff hitters any more. Look forward to a game full of Mark Reynolds and bereft of Rickey Hendersons. The majors just don’t pay any attention to your stats unless you hit homers. Then they just hope you can cut down on your strikeouts.

I just took a look through the league, and the only player who has leadoff-type stats is Austin Jackson. Anyone else with double digit steals and an OBP of 380 or more is also a slugger batting 3rd or 4th.

Where’s Dykstra when you need him? Oh, right. Doing 20 to life.

Scotty had a great spring for Philly…he beat out Juan Pierre but got screwed out of a roster spot………(tho JP has been great this season) he is healthy and whoever picks him up will get a great 4th OF or PR for the playoff push IMO!

It’s actually kind of irritating that, after a decent run, he was wasting in the minors while Ryan Sweeney was getting cuts (and misses) at the plate.

I get that he’s at the end of the line….but I’ll take a 50 year old Podsednik over Ryan effing Sweeney.

In his defense, Albers is having a good year with a 2.29 ERA, 193 ERA+, and a 1.14 WHIP. Only 39 innings versus a career of mediocrity, though.
