baseballisboring, you are partially correct. Some bodies are pront to those types of nagging injuries. And when you are a fatass like Becektt has BECOME (we wasnt in 2007, and not really in 2009 either) you tend to have back problems

I bet the Red Sox faithful are really distraught that Beckett might miss his next start. (yes I am be sarcastic).
Shouldn’t that be the perfect opportunity to give Morales a shot at starting?

How did Beckett help them win their first championship in “a hundred years” when he was pitching for Florida in 2004?

Although, since you can’t figure out that 86 isn’t 100 then I guess you’d have a hard time understanding that 2 also isn’t 100.

I dunno, man. Some guys’ bodies are just more prone to those types of nagging injuries. Maybe it’s a conditioning thing, but no one was accusing him of being lazy in ’07 or ’09, it’s funny how good performance influences that. I mean, he’s getting up there in years, he’s lost a couple MPH off his fastball…that happens. What we have now is an overpaid (though not devastatingly so), slightly above average pitcher. Plenty useful for what he is. But Lester has been dreadful, Lackey has been haunting my dreams since the start of 2011, Dice K has nothing left to offer…the problem isn’t as much Beckett as it is the dead money they have on the books that’s constricting them from building a better pitching staff around him. Having an overpaid #3 on a team that spends as much as the Red Sox isn’t the end of the world. But like I said, we’re still paying Dice K $12MM this year, Lackey’s making $17MM I think, Crawfords making like $22MM…it’s not to say that Beckett hasn’t been disappointing, but I think he gets a lot more bad press than he deserves.

I’m sick of the beer and chicken incident. Things like that happen in all lockerrooms, and only because of the collapse did that matter. The shenanighans of the ’04 Sox are well documented (including overweight players and lockerroom binges) and no one cared cus they won.

Also, as I’ve said before, the back spasms and blisters were problems Beckett had with Florida too, so the Sox knew what they were getting when they signed him. He’s not having a good season, sure, but that’s true of most of the pitching staff. Beckett’s merely the scapegoat because he’s not media friendly.

You boston fans are a bunch of Ungrateful and whiny girls. This dude helped you win a championship which u hadnt done in a hundred years. You complain cuz he gets blisters have u ever been a pitcher do u know how hard they havto hold the ball to get the pitch to do wht they want it to do. Nooo of course not you jus pop off at the mouth. Granted the whole beer incident with him and the team was horrible but you guys are never ever happy. Im not a huge baseball guy but if the indians had won a championship n our ace pitcher got blisters or back spasms i seriously doubt we would act like this. Instead we got a closer who wonders why we dont show up. All he hasta do is ask the owner why hes happy being a mediocre team instead of a championship contender like boston has been. My point being it could be worse be happy you have a pitcher who was a major part of your championship team and stop acting like ungrateful Witches

Growing tired of him? Right idea, wrong tense: we GREW tired of Beckett a long time ago. It’s back spasms every year (might help if cared enough to get rid of that gut hanging over his belt) or blisters (missed starts for that reason multiple times in the last few years) or a lat or a groin. It’s always something with this guy.

I get sick of hearing on MLB Tonight and Baseball Tonight about how much the Sox “need their ace to pitch better”. This guy has been in Boston for five and one-half years and only two of them have been good (2007 and 2009), the rest have been mediocre at best. Josh Beckett is the most undeservedly hyped pitcher in baseball.
