Vin Scully got A.J. Ellis trending on Twitter last night

Aug 4, 2012, 10:22 AM EDT

After Vin Scully showed his unfamiliarity with Twitter earlier this week in his typical charming fashion, the broadcasting legend embraced the technology last night and urged folks to get Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis trending. And they responded.

By the way, Ellis went 3-for-3 with a pair of homers and three RBI in a 6-1 win over the Cubs. And yes, Mr. Scully, you are cool.

You know, out of all the old people who have ever tried to describe Twitter, he may have been the best one.

I’ll bet Vin Scully could say more in 140 characters than Keats, Shelley or Poe.

The next A.J. Ellis scouting report needs to contain: “He’s a nice boy.”

I was going to say, “Dodgers PR told him to say that,” but then he confirmed it.

I’m at a loss. This is just classic Vin. There isn’t another announcer out there that could pull that off if they tried.
