How can you ban the nut? Must be 30-50 thousand at a game. Throw the book at him. Make his parents pay a few thousand for a lawyer and a huge fine. What I don’t see here is the jerk’s name. Now if you want some real action get the box owner to forfeit his rights to the box as he allowed an asshole to use his box and get him pissed off at the kid, and the kid’s family. Then you will see fur fly.

The kid should be banned for a year. No excuse whatsoever for doing that.
Can you imagine if he pointed that thing at the pitcher at the very moment a batter sent a solid shot up the middle? I remember a few years back Pujols was batting in Philly and the same thing happened.
Had the pitcher let one get away and it ran up and in on A.P. (while that laser was pointed in his eyes) there is no way he could see to try to move out of the way.

Ster, of course. Didn’t I say “that the human eye can see”? It all comes down to electron transitions in energy levels that are available due to the molecule chemistries. Of course blue, violet and UV are higher energy. They also are more prone to ionize, which is not desirable. We don’t see X-rays, either.

Uh you need to go to freshman biology my friend. The reason why green lasers appear brighter is because the human’s eye sensitivity peaks in this area which non coincidentally is where the Sun’s energy output peaks on the surface.
The human eye is actually less sensitive to blue and violet light (higher an higher frequencies) and cannot see ultraviolet and beyond which are even higher frequencies.

There is also a potential assault charge here. Not just from possible damage to a players eye, but also if someone was scared they had a gunsight on them and were afraid of bodily harm. Potential penalties vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, usually sentencing takes into account if nothing bad did happen but something could have so the penalties vary from a slap on the wrist to a few years in jail..

It was a stupid prank by a kid, and that’s all it was. A similar thing happened at a soccer match when a teenage boy shined a laser on a sideline judge and a security guard. They could not tell which of the boys (he was part of a fairly large group), so they were going to eject all of them until the boy stepped forward admitted it was him. At that point the security officer took him aside and explained exactly why it was not funny (laser sites) and then let him return to his seat minus the laser pointer.

Why do you think that it is excessive? It seem about right to me. It is about the same as running onto the field. Actually, it is worse. He is trying to effect the outcome of the pitch. I say arrest him and ban him from the park.

I am pretty sure that many venues (MSG defiantly does) prohibits laser pointers.

I don’t know if it will stick, but prosecute the sh!t out of him. Let his parents foot the bill for his defense.

Before you call someone a moron, at least make sure all your own statements are correct. As you state, the human eye is more sensitive to green light than red. However, for that reason, green is not only brighter when transmitted with the same energy as red, it is also easier to see than red, not harder. Lasers that the anyone wants to be hard to see amplify infrared or ultraviolet as both are impossible for the human eye to see.
