Fresh off Tuesday’s shutout of the Braves, Cole Hamels spent Wednesday at a ribbon cutting for the Philadelphia playground renovated thanks to a $300,000 grant from his foundation.
Phillies.com has pictures from the scene at Bayard Taylor Elementary.
Besides all of the playground equipment, the project includes a technology station and a greenhouse. It’s quite the nice setup, particularly with the Hamels-stamped mural serving as a backdrop.

If I were the Phillies, I’d be a little worried about how close his left hand was to those giant scissors.

Kudos to Cole and Heidi for being involved in the community with their foundation and for helping the kids.

Cole’s a class act on and off the field in Philly and the suburbs. His foundation raises a ton of money all the time for great causes.

Not the main reason I’m glad he signed long term, but definitely one of them. I wonder who will step up and fill the void left behind by Shane’s leaving.
