GIF of the day: Eric Chavez is really sorry, Cody Eppley

Aug 8, 2012, 11:51 AM EDT

Here’s one of my favorite moments of the season in GIF form, via Chad Moriyama.

Basically Eric Chavez threw the ball back to Yankees pitcher Cody Eppley … who wasn’t looking. And, as they say, hilarity ensued:

Cody Eppley was the losing pitcher in the one game I’ve ever been to.

I nod in approval of your actions, Mr. Chavez.

It didn’t at first, but then it did after I opened up the link. Weird.

The look on Chavez’s face as he realizes what he just did is priceless

      Agreed

The only thing missing from this is a 3 Stooges style ‘bonk’ sound.

They didn’t show it on TV at first and when Girardi and the trainer came running out, the announcers were speculating that maybe they had seen Eppley grimace during his delivery or something. So they watched the replay to see if they could find out exactly what Girardi had seen and when it got to the point where he got hit in the head, they both started laughing. Eppley had this “Go back to the dugout- you’re embarrassing me! I was hoping no one saw that and I’m trying to act like it didn’t happen” look on his face.

Anymore gifs of people in NY hats getting hit with things?
