He’s also pitching in relief where he can let it fly, though. If he had came up as a reliever initially he probably would’ve been throwing 96.

He always pitched well in tough spots. against the Yanks he dominated and when he absolutely had to he pitched well.

I beg to differ. He started off pretty strong, but he was always wild and had a herky jerky delivery. Then he lost a little off his fastball and couldn’t get away with mistakes anymore, which led to nibbling, and even more walks. It’s really pretty shocking that he even managed to work his way back as a LOOGY, but good for him. Stories like this are always fun.

Yes, he got fat and out of shape as soon as he signed his contract with the Mets. Now he has to work for his contracts. Because of ineffectiveness, he got to rest his arm the last two years and now he can come back and be a two-pitch guy out of the pen.

Yeah, he’s a princess now, but he’ll be a pumpkin by midnight…or something. You can pretty much count on Ollie to be Ollie soon. I hope I’m wrong (’cause what kind of person wants a ballplayer to suck?) but I saw enough of the guy to know that the biggest problem he has is between the ears. In all likelihood, unless there’s been a TJS for the Cerebral Collateral Ligament, he’s still that guy that The Poor Mets knew.

Ollie P always went through stretches where he was dominant. Before long he would ended up walking 5 or 6 guys in a row. Once he gets a little failure the wheels will fall of da bus.

This should not be a surprise by any means. he was not a terrible pitcher just more of a head case (see Burnett, AJ). A change of Venue is all he needed.
