I’m confused about how Kubel is carrying the team as you suggested. He’s not their best hitter (that would be Goldschmidt) and he’s certainly not their best overall player (that would be Montero, or Hill or Goldschmidt). So your how is he carrying (or…”karrying” as you posted) the team?

I mean he’s a useful guy, sure. But it’s hard to get excited about a LF who isn’t even top 10 at his position for offensive production. And it’s a multi-year deal, so it’s hard to say it’s a good signing based off of one season. Remember how everybody said the Raul Ibanez deal was fantastic after the first year? By the second or third year nobody was saying that.

Chase field is the second highest elevation in MLB. Maybe they’ll parlay this into talking some other guys into taking less so they can come and improve their market value.

On the flip side, makes what Randy Johnson did in AZ all the more spectacular.
