Now I agree, Sveum isn’t the greatest manager the team could have but let’s be honest here – it doesn’t really matter who the manager would be. It could be the second coming of Sparky Anderson for crying out loud and the team would still suck. There is no leadership in the clubhouse, and that exposes more than anything else.

He was run out of Chicago. He had to deal with losing 40% of his starting pitchers half way into game 1. Soriano was worse in 2011 than any other year of his contract, he had to deal with Zambrano, Ramirez decided he didn’t want to play anymore and he was not the only one . Half the roster should have been down at AAA.

The Cubs had six more wins at this time last year. Opening day 2012 Sveum looked like a total bum off the street. He hadn’t shaved in days and his clothes looked like he had slept in them for about a week. It all starts at the top and works it way down. Hey, My coach looks like crap why shouldn’t I ?

Ryne Sandberg was not the answer last year and Dale Sveum is not the answer this year either. It would have been great to have given Mike the second year of his contract.
