What's the beef? He had 16 years, probably salted away 50 million, is 39 years old and its time for retirement. Now he can travel the world, enjoy his kids, start a second career and enjoy life.
MY HEART BLEEDS FOR HIM!

Far out prediction: the Toronto Blue Jays take him. Probably on a deal giving him three minor league starts and then evaluating an MLB rotation slot for the rest of the year.

Reasons: the organization likes him (I'm told), it's thought that his sinkerball style would play well in Rogers Center (and on a team with good defense), he's got AL East experience, veteran presence, and at this point what the hell else are they going to do? In a rotation that includes basically five #6 starters, he'd fit right in, and at least give them a warm body to toss the ball in the general direction of home plate without having to use Jeff Mathis (two pitching appearances this year!) to do it. Upside is could turn into a reliable innings-eater who keeps the ball in the yard. Downside is he stays pitching like he has been, which is to say, about as well as the Jays #1 starter has this year.
