The Cardinals out hit em.’ The Cardinals out pitched em.’ The Cardinals played better defensively.
They took a 3 run lead into the 8th. Then promptly give up consecutive walks. Subsequent 3 run dinger and…tie ballgame.
Then to “top” things. They lose on an 11th inning walk off infield single to Juan Pierrer.
That’s Basball…and precisely why I love it. Damn infield single.

Cardinals get 14 hits, Phils get 7 hits—and make 3 errors—yet the Phils come out on top.

After taking a 3-run lead in the top of the 8th, Scrabble enters the game to face the Phillies’ lefties and promptly walks the first two, at which point he’s replaced by Boggs who promptly surrenders the game-tying 3-run blast to Erik (Who?) Kratz, who’s now slugging .800 as Chooch’s replacement.
