Josh is warming up ~ now some consistency through the entire batting order is needed. Its hard to fault a team that leads its division by 6-1/2 games in August and is 21 games above .500. Not too shabby. But the Rangers leave far too many runners stranded. Batting averages are irrelevant if you can’t get runners across the plate.

He still doesn’t have that same look in his eyes as he had in April and May. He always use to look like he drank a gallon of coffee before each of the games. He needs to get that eyes-bulging, wired look back.

It would be nice if he became a more consistent batter though, or at the very least hit around .275 through post season play. He sort of sets the pace for the rest of the Rangers and they usually play better when he plays better, and similarly go cold when he does.

Ya, they should totally separate stats based on the quality of pitchers. That seems really logical.

Meh, all Craig did was point out stats thus far. I think the only person that can jinx Josh Hamilton is Josh Hamilton.

No offense, but it’s not like he’s besting top-level pitchers lately. So far in August (a whole 2 weeks), he’s hitting off of mostly mediocre pitchers (Royals, BloSox). It’s not like he homered off of Verlander. Going deep off of Porcello? Meh.

What’s prob the best stat even after being cold is he’s at 32 HRs and his career high is 32

I’m still trying to see where he said Josh has been other worldy so far this month. He simply said he’s heating up. After June and July this is an improvement. It also shows you much of a tear he was on early that even after those two months it’s taken 12 days in August to put him back in the homer and rbi lead. Just imagine where he’d be right now had he not stopped dipping.

Well, it’s about 130 points higher than what he hit in July, so I would say it qualifies as “heating up.”

15-48 is “only” a .312 average. I mean that’s good, but it’s not otherworldly.

Craig, please don’t jinx the Rangers. Yes, August seems to be thawing out Hamilton, and the Rangers seem to be following suit, but the Rangers start a series tonight with the Yanks….let’s hold judgement until after they leave New York.
