metalhead65, you haven’t been talking to many Pirate fans. Just a winning season would represent a major success in 2012, anything else is just gravy. I don’t know how you can possibly say the last series between the Reds and Pirates was any kind of beatdown at all. Reds didn’t sweep, and their two wins came by one run and three runs. Even Pete Rose would disagree with your assessment.

In terms of the ticket price increase, it’s still very reasonable when compared with the rest of the league, and at least they’re coming out early with the notice.

funny how when the pirates were in first they were going to win the division but after the beatdown the reds gave them pirate fans will be happy to make the playoffs. newsflash when you face the reds again your staff ace the yankee reject can only pitch one game against the reds and somehow with Votto back I think the reds will be ready for him this time.

Hey Pirates fans, Red Sox fan here…
I remember Tim wakefield playing in the post season with Pittsburg. It has been a ling time, has it not. I would humbly suggest you guys enjoy your team being relevant because when it’s bad it can be bad for a looong time. (Sox fans know this as we are just five years into a new eighty six year character building episode.)
C’mon man, be positive. IT IS NOW REALLY COOL TO BE A PIRATES FAN!
On top of that how great would it be if the Pirates won the world series.
It would be “one more for the Pirates and still ZERO for Barry Bonds”.

Honestly it’s not terrible if you’ve seen their prices. I live outside Philly, but have been to just as many Pirates games in the last 5 years as Phillies games (obviously my favorite team). When you can sit 6 rows behind the dugout with the best city view in baseball at PNC Park, it easily beats sitting in the upper deck at CB Park for the same price. Good news with the Phillies sucking….. I can get $3 tickets on stubhub! ‘Bout time I got some legroom back.

But yeah, probably not the best way to announce it.

They hiked prices last year too. No shame in what the Pirates are doing, they didn’t raise prices once from 2001-2010, how are they going to raise payroll without increasing revenue. Pirates fans have already responded at the box office and the bandwagon is there. This is the least of pirates fans worries.
