southofheaven81…….as another Yankee fan, it would be a disgrace to see that gopher faced runt in pinstripes. He would be better suited to go to the NL, I have a feeling he won’t be in Boston all that much longer as his big mouthed back stabbing antics has caused a lot of discontent there.

He came thisclose to tying the game in the 8th with another homer. As a Yankees fan even I have to tip my hat to the guy, if we had any less of a player than Cano at 2nd base I’d say the Yankees should go after him like crazy.

It’s the darnedest thing, but when the Yankees are batting it’s a Little League park, and when the Red Sox are batting it magically morphs into a DIFFERENT park with lasers and high walls. If only when these teams played each other, they both got to hit in the same park. I mean, if that happened, it would almost be like the Yankees didn’t have an advantage at all–in fact, had a disadvantage, because their pitching staff has to pitch in a Little League park for 81 games. Thank God that’s not the case, though, and that the walls and lasers magically appear. As for Granderson and Swisher, they do get tested. It’s not like they are magically exempt just because they hit home runs last night. I wish magic was real, but in all cases, alas, it is not.

I think “brilliant at times and quite hittable at others” describes about 3/5 of the pitchers in baseball.

N Swisher homered to left (368 feet). – 29
C Granderson homered to right (346 feet). – 6
R Martin homered to right (340 feet). – 1
D Jeter homered to left (381 feet). – 30
N Swisher homered to right center (396 feet). – 9

Numbers after are the amount of ballparks it would have gone out in at the same distance and vector, so one YSIII cheapie. Swisher also has the 4th highest ISO of his career and Granderson third, that’s definitely a reason to test them.

Anything else you want to bring up? Can we go for a third wrong assumption…

I was watching the Jays game when I heard about Pedroia’s home run and said curses. My fantasy team needed a good game from Hughes. I was quite happy to find that the 4 runs were unearned. Hughes has been an enigma. Brilliant at times and quite hittable at others.

Those 4 unearned runs were courtesy of his evil twin sister Phyllis. Phil pitched great. Phyllis didn’t as she gave up the 3 run homer. My fantasy team got lucky as those 4 runs did not count.

Aside from just 2 mistakes one the throwing error mentioned in the piece and the other the HR ball to Pedroia both in the top of the 3rd inning Hughes pitched a great game. Going 7 full innings, allowing NO Earned Runs (4 Unearned), 4 K’s and just 4 Hits in getting his 12th win of the season. A well deserved win for him and the Yankees. And the Yankees just keep on rolling this month.
