Most of the trades and signings since have been low cost no reward?

Go back and check how little the Sox gave up to acquire the following ‘everyday’ players:

Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Scott Atchison (signed from Japan), Franklin Morales, Alfredo Aceves, Mike Aviles, Andrew Miller, Clayton Mortenson (acquired in a glorified salary dump), Cody Ross.

I’d say there’s a hell of a lot of return on some of those names considering Cherington/Theo gave up next to nothing for them, and those are just the names I picked up off the current roster, I’m sure there were plenty more examples before these guys came along.

I gotta agree i dont get the disgrace part but i thought Lackey would have been decent for them, over payed yes but a decent pitcher which he still might end up being for them and Crawford was overpayed as well but i thought he would be a nice leadoff guy for them which once again he still might be one day

Carl, please have your surgery already and let your teammates focus on playing baseball. You don’t need the media to get your surgery done. Please stop your distracting news items. Either do your job and keep quiet or get your surgery and keep quiet. When you hit .350, steal 50 bases and drive in 100 runs you can be a little bit more distracting. Sorry, not buying the way that Carl is handling this. When your agent is still involved, not a good sign.

How has anything changed? He said he would “ask” to have it soon, now he says he’ll follow the doctors’ recommendation. How are those in conflict? You can ask all you want, and still do what they say if the answer is no. Nothing to see here.

Crawford seems like a class act. As far as the Red Sox brass and medical staff, anything BUT class.

It’s all lies that end up in the media in Boston if it’s attached to a quote from Lucchino, Cherrington, and anyone else that is in-house up there.

Crawford, while never a HOFer, is going to continue to miss time, losing out on a continued productive, FUN career because they want to get to that ridiculous play-in game. They still think they have a chance because they won last night in New York. Even those idiots at FOX think it’s a big deal to have these two teams on TV. I love the FOX logo in the top right corner and the “#rivalry” hash tag.

A fake rivalry (the Yankees and their fans must laugh at this every time they see it), bad effort on the field all season from the Red Sox, and Pesky kicks the bucket. What a miserable year in Boston!

A disgrace? Yes, those deals have turned out horribly, but no one predicted this result at the time. Both had long track records of being very good players before coming to the Sox. It’s nothing more than bad luck…very expensive bad luck.

So true.

Theo inherited some heavy but mostly productive contracts from Duquette, build a Series winner with low cost high reward players…..and then missed on pretty much every free agent signing since. High cost little to no reward.

And aside from Adrian Gonzalez, most of the trades and signings they have undertaken since his departure have been low cost no reward.
