Damn, Mark Prior had better numbers that Bard (and yes, Prior is 31, we know) and all he got was released!

Why not have given Prior a brief stint in the bigs, and then released him if he had a few bad outings? Its not like the BoSox will be advancing to the playoffs anyway. He was obviously pitching better than Bard (and yes, Prior is 31, we know).

Maybe the Sox are bringing him up to be their version of Chamberlin? Except Bard can still throw 100 MPH

Bard has allowed 12 runs in his last seven appearances, only pitching one scoreless inning. They need some of that in the majors!
