Let’s coddle the overpaid superstar who was barking about balls and strikes in the 2nd inning. Guess what, umpires don’t want to listen to your shit the whole game and it must get shut down early. Campos told them he heard enough, Kemp then barks out “anything” and he gets ejected. Quick hook, perhaps, but is no one intelligent to see that Kemp put himself in this situation? By the way, the call that was argued was correct, which is not mentioned by anyone for WHAT reason?

The video I saw was clearly just one person yelling. Mattingly should be ashamed of himself for the example he sets for our children.

I’m not even a Dodgers fan and can’t c the logic here-a player not heckling the umpire, but motivating his teammate. That alone makes Kemp’s ejection unreasonable. But, since Kemp and Mattingly were both ejected, tell me this: Why is MLB getting involved with additional discipline here? Mattingly already ejected, and he’s paid by the Dodgers. With this suspension, he’ll lose 2 days pay, not my problem of course, but if he’s paid by the team, y is the league involved in this????????????

How about pairs of lights set around the ball park, easily observed by all fans. You pick the colors. The appropriate color lights depending on the pitch and the count is presented on the multiple scoreboards in the park as they are now. The time for the pitch to be called would probably be in the neighborhood of milliseconds, faster than the umpire. Best of all it would be consistent and accurate, something not happening now.

I just don’t know how a computer calls balls and strikes with a game going on, and a crowd in attendance. Does the homeplate umpire have a smart phone (my concert experience…all eyes on the guy with comp). Do they email it to the announcers (my WWF referance, where a laptop with a GM who only sends emails to the announcers is an actual star).

Computer strike zones are a nice idea, but the game is built for the 50,000 fans in attendance. Instantly being able to cheer a K is awesome. Having to wait for the computer to flash a light on the scoreboard would suck.

I’ve been to a “concert” at Daytona Bike Week with a guy standing in the middle of the stage with a laptop. There was a hypeman throwing fastfood napkins in the air to “make it rain”. It was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. The young’ns loved it, so maybe your scenerio would work.

I just pictured that concert when you said let the computers make the calls. It would be like Michael Cole in the WWF:

I’m not an expert, but the more baseball I watch, the more obvious it becomes that there is no consistency in the strike zone. While my Pirates benefited from those calls, its got to drive players and coaches nuts trying to figure out where the strike zone is on any given day with any given umpire. Maybe it’s time to let a computer call the balls and strikes, and the ump behind the plate can take care of the rest.

What an utter crock. A two-game suspension for arguing? Then why isn’t there a manager somewhere in MLB on suspension every week? This must be how MLB covers its ass when one of its umpires overreacts. Don’t admit your ump used bad judgment, just pile on the manager and try to make the whole situation his fault alone.

Ethier wasn’t happy with Campos’ lousy balls and strikes calls, so Kemp tried to defuse the issue by yelling encouragement to his teammate. Campos responds by ejecting Kemp. Yeah, that would piss off any manager. So? Have the umps in MLB developed such thin skin that someone arguing with them should result in a two-game penalty to the team? Way to affect not just the game you’re umpiring, but the next two games as well. What a load of crap.

It is just you! This is Matt Kemp’s first ejection of 2012 and first since August 19, 2011. He was ejected for cheering on Andre Eithier and said “let’s go Dre”. I guess Angel Camps did not like him cheering his teammate on…. so you”re out of here!

The whole situation is bogus. MLB should be embarrassed. Shouldn’t have been ejections, let alone a suspension. And yet, the umpires remain unscathed. F@CKING PATHETIC!!!!!

Newsflash; a lot of smack talk and complaining comes from the dugout. This started roughly around 1876 or so so I can understand why some umpires might still be having trouble getting used to it.
How about just do the job, pay attention to the game and ignore the bench.

Campos caused the entire beef and should be suspended as well. No one pays to see an umpire take over a game.
