This title is somewhat misleading, as Giancarlo Stanton regularly hits moonshots. But his home run last night against the Rockies at Coors Field was particularly epic.
The original estimate had it at 474 feet, but ESPN’s True Distance Hit Tracker had it at 494 feet, which would be the longest home run in MLB since Wladimir Balentien’s 495-foot blast in 2009. Either way, it was pretty awesome. As the broadcast noted, Stanton has now homered in all five games he has played at Coors Field. Could you imagine what monster numbers he could put up if he played 81 home games there? It would be unfair.
