it is absolutely amazing to me that in his first few weeks of big league baseball, SI called him “the natural” and compared him to Micky Mantle. That’s like going on a successful first date with a girl and your friends calling you Brad Pitt.

Another telling sign that made me a believer:

June 2nd, Nick Punto hits a home run. Miguel Cabrera also hits a home run that day. The balls traveled the same distance. Both home runs traveled 444 feet each.

How in the holy Tenochtitlan did Punto muster up enough power to drive a ball 444 feet? Only Pacal knows.

More perspective: last night, Jeff Francoeur drew more walks than he did in the entire month of June (1), when he had 107 plate appearances.

Frenchy fans need not fear: in his lone non-walk plate appearance last night, the Hacktastic One struck out.
