If only he stuck to his singing gig . . . I suppose Thunderstruck takes on some added meaning.

I do hope he recovers well. Any injury is a bad on, but it’s especially difficult to tune out that level of head trauma.

If Matt Clement hadn’t turned into a joke immediately after it happened, it’d be a different story.

It’s not even like Bryce Florie. He had a serious injury, and busted his ass to make his way back to the majors (and pretty much failed).

Matt Clement missed a month and immediately turned into a complete and total dumpster fire of a pitcher.

I was watching the 12-15 y.o. women’s softball thing on ESPN earlier tonight, and noticed one of the pitchers was wearing a facemask…wouldn’t be a bad idea for MLB pitchers, either.

Hopefully the kid still has confidence, or will get it back once he’s gone through surgery–stuff like this can scare pitchers into not being pitchers anymore.

I was going to write something snarky about this kid “seeing a future filled with hard knocks” within the red sox organization, but then I decided against it, instead just offering my wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

It’ll be ok. The Red Sox have a lot of experience with their pitchers who have been struck in the noggin by line drives.

Just look at how well Matt Clement rebounded after that.
